We need a plan B” (2013). “We have expanded [the internet] way beyond the limits of how it was meant to operate,” he says. “There’s no clear backup system that we very carefully kept to be independent of the internet, made on a completely different set of building blocks.”

And why do we only have one internet? Well, most likely because we’re lazy. “It’s not that hard a problem,” Hillis said. But, “It’s very hard to get people focused on Plan B when Plan A seems to be working so well.”
